ANGRY BIRDS JOIN EVERTON

Last Sunday mobile game Angry Birds became Everton’s first shirt sleeve sponsor. Rovio Entertainment, the company behind the game, are market leaders in the games industry and have had success with the Angry Birds franchise – with 3.7 billion downloads.

The multi-year shirt sleeve deal between the games giant and the Toffees did spark some controversy with fans initially upset because Angry Birds’ main character is red – the colour of city rivals Liverpool FC. Despite the negative reaction, Everton were quick to start the #RedIsABlue hashtag – which has already had over 5m impressions.
